The war of Troy

This was a war between the Greeks and Trojans of Troy. This war was waged after Paris abducted Helen, wife Menelaus of Sparta. When Menelaus demanded her return, the Trojans refused. Menelaus then persuaded his brother Agamemnon to lead an army against Troy.

This war is the most important in Greek mythology, and has been narrated through works of Greek literature, most notably Homer's Iliad. The war originated from a quarrel from the goddesses Hera, Athena and Aphrodite, after Eris, the goddess of strife and discord gave them a golden apple, also known as the Apple of Discord, which is only for the fairest. Well, after that, Zeus, the god of thunder and rain, sent the goddesses to Paris, who said that that, Aphrodite, should be given the golden apple as she was the fairest. Then, Aphrodite, in return, made Helen, the most beautiful women of all and wife of Menelaus, fall in love with Paris, who took her to Troy. Agamemnon, king of Mycenae and the brother of Helen's husband Menelaus, led an expedition of Achaean troops to Troy and besieged the city for ten years because of Paris' insult.

After the death of many heroes, including the Achaeans Achilles and Ajax, and the Trojans Hector and Paris, the city fell to the ruse of the Trojan horse. The Achaeans slaughtered the Trojans(except for some women and children whom they kept or sold as slaves) and desecrated the temples, thus earning the gods' wrath. Few of the Achaeans returned safely to their homes and many found colonies in distant shores.

Blog on the Mythology of Greeks

Greek mythology can be dated to be originated around 2 billion years ago. It is the order of myths originally told by the ancient greeks and a genre of Ancient Greek Folklores. These stories tell the origin and the nature of the world, the lives and the activities of deities, heroes and mythological creatures and the other significances are their practices of cult and rituals.

In the Greek mythology, the Greeks say that Gaia(the earth was born before anyone. Then she gave birth to Uranus(the sky) who then fertilized her. From the union were born the first titans-six males:Coeus, Crius, Cronus, Hyperion, Lapetius and Oceanus, and six females:Mnemosyne, Phoebe, Rhea, Theia, Themis, Tethys.

Then, Cronus had a son, Zeus. Both of them had a father-against-son conflict. Because Cronus had betrayed his father, he thought his sons would also do the same thing to him. So, when Rhea gave birth to a son, he ate them up. Rhea didn't like this. So, she hid Zeus and put a stone in his place. So, Cronus had eaten the stone. Zeus had grown up by that time. Then he gave Cronus a drug that made him vomit. He threw up Rhea's other children, including Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter and Hera.
Zeus then challenged Cronus to a war for the kingships of gods. He won the war with the help of Cyclopes and his siblings and then he put Cronus and the other Titans in Tartarus and Zeus ruled his emperor very wisely with his siblings

Blog on airliners

Airlines are organizations which fly planes.Well, many airlines interest me. There are many airlines from different countries. These airlines are used domestically and internationally.

Some airlines are very costly but very comfortable. Every airline has a different name. How difficult it would be if there was only one company which makes planes! There should be an airline in every country. In India there are airlines from other countries also. Some of the best airlines are Lufthansa and Emirates. Lufthansa airlines originated in Germany while Emirates originated in UAE, Dubai. Lufthansa had started around 18th and 19th century. Now, these airlines are way more costlier than before and are way more luxurious than the old one.

The best airline today is Emirates. Many years before it was Lufthansa. But in the 21st century, Emirates took its place.

Blog on the Great Red Spot

The "Great Red Spot" is a spot where there are many volcanoes and storms. Well, many scientists have tried to get information about this spot. They have got information that the great red spot consists of many big volcanoes which are way larger than the volcanoes on earth and underwater. This spot's size was very large in 1830, but now its size has decreased. There are many storms in that large area. The storms are very fast and can travel 300 km\h. These storms contain gases like nitrogen, hydrogen, helium etc.

Scientists predict that this spot even before 1665 but they found about the spot only after 1830. Robert Hooke, a scientist of the 17th century, observed this spot. He said that the spot looked like a storm moving in a circular direction. Well, in the 21st century, the spot started shrinking in size. In 2004, The spot's size was half of its longitudinal extent. Scientists say that the planet's edges started 'flaking'. The Great Red Spot has a colorful, wavy pattern.

Well no one knows how the Great Red Spot has a reddish colour. Scientists predict that that this reddish colour is formed because of chemical products created frm the solar ultraviolet irradiation of ammonium hydrosulphide.

The research of the Great Red Spot started after 1830 when Robert Hooke saw a spot on Jupiter. The researches are still going on with the help of the spacecraft, "Cassini Huygens".

Blog on crocodiles

Crocodiles are very strange species. They are harmless to humans but harmful when the crocodile is too hungry. Crocodiles eat humans when they are too hungry. They are usually harmless. The largest crocodile and reptile on earth is the saltwater crocodile. These male species can be 20 ft long but the females can grow only 9.8 ft long. They are usually found in oceans as they can only live in saltwater.

A crocodile's diet consists of snakes, sharks, crustaceans etc. It can also eat a human. A saltwater crocodile has a longer snout compared to other crocodiles. It has a longer snout than compared to the mugger crocodile.

The top 2 crocodiles are the saltwater crocodile and the nile crocodile. There are many types of crocodiles like the American crocodile, Marsh crocodile, Dwarf crocodile, Gharial etc. The smallest crocodile on earth is the cuviar's dwarf caiman. Their existence dates to 95 million years ago.

Their one amazing feature is that they have a four chambered heart just like bird. The nile crocodile is known to have attacked and eaten humans.

Crocodiles are very unique species so they should never be killed for making leather out of their skin.

Blog on amphibians and reptiles

Amphibians are amazing. Some amphibians originated millions of years ago. Archaelogists have evidences about frogs and different lizards living 265 million years ago. Amphibians are found all around the world. When the meteorites crashed the earth's surface, maybe the amphibians at that time knew how to protect themselves from natural calamities. Well, this are predictions scientists made.

A salamander is an amazing amphibian. The structure of it is similar to a lizard's structure but a Salamander is longer and larger than a lizard. A Salamander can also be poisonous. It secretes toxic from its skin. A juvenile secretes more toxic than an adult. Salamanders originated in the 17th century. Salamanders come from the american continents and from the temperate zones of northern Africa, Asia and Europe.

The next amphibian is a frog. Well, it is a common amphibian and can also been seen in cities. It's origin is dated around 265 million years ago. This is only the prediction of scientists. They predicted this as they found a fossil of an animal similar to the frog

There was a giant amphibian called Labyrinthodontia. It was an ancient amphibian and lived both on land and water. They lived between the Palezoic and Mesozoic eras. They are ancestral to all landliving vertebrates

Reptiles are air breathing vertebrates covered in special skin made up of scales, bony plates or the combination of both. The largest reptile is the saltwater crocodile.

Crocodiles are reptiles which originated in the american continents, Africa, Asia and Australia. They can be very dangerous to humans if they are angry or hungry

Turtles are reptiles which have large shells made of cartilge to protect them from large predators. Turtles can be very large or small and there are both extant and extinct species. A turtle can lay 500 eggs at a time. The largest turtle ever known is the leatherback sea turtle

Chameleons are reptiles that can camouflage themselves to avoid being eaten by other animals. The chameleons look very similar to lizards( just like salamanders).

There are many such amazing amphibians and reptiles which fascinate my imagination.
